Dedicated to Patient and Public Involvement
Patient and Public Involvement (PPI) plays a vital role in how we develop our own studies and how we communicate with our participants throughout clinical trials.
We have a growing PPI group made up of members of the public, people with lived experience of neurodegenerative conditions and research experts. We engage our PPI panel in advance of trials to ensure our recruitment strategies and trial delivery meets the gold standard. We can also engage with our PPI panel on behalf of trial sponsors to strengthen study design and participant-facing materials.
IONA Longitudinal Cohort – Our Flagship Study
We are spearheading the IONA Longitudinal Cohort Study, a first-of-its-kind initiative that integrates:
- Biological data (blood and CSF biomarkers)
- Cognitive assessments
- Genetic profiling
- Neuroimaging
This unique approach enables the early detection of neurodegenerative disease and provides a powerful platform for testing innovative therapeutics.
Across our two sites in Edinburgh and Aberdeen, we have already recruited 600+ participants—achieving recruitment 80% faster than the industry standard.
