The SBS Blog – Welcome our new Senior Clinical Investigator!

The SBS Blog – Welcome our new Senior Clinical Investigator!

Published on 01/09/23 by Scottish Brain Sciences

Please say hello to Dr Clara Russell, who will be filling a vital role within Scottish Brain Sciences.

“As a Senior Clinical Investigator, I am delighted to be working with this hugely experienced and dynamic team to ensure that these ground-breaking trials are carried out to the highest standard.” She will help ensure that our trials and research protocols are upheld, and the rights and welfare of our trial participants are always placed at the forefront of what we do.

Clara received her MBBS from University of Newcastle Upon Tyne in 2002, before completing GP training in the North East and going on to become a Member of the Royal College of General Practitioners in 2007. As a GP, Clara has worked in both NHS and private sector. She has studied sleep science, functional medicine and is passionate about the role of lifestyle and prevention in supporting brain health.

From personal and professional experience, she has seen the impact neurodegenerative diseases have on patients and their families and is dedicated to helping people live better with these conditions.

In speaking about joining our clinical team, she explained, “Prevention, early detection and treatment of dementia are essential for our future. I’m excited to be part of the team at Scottish Brain Sciences who are both helping patients and focused on making this a reality.”

We know that her extensive experience and expertise will indeed help us in creating our goal of a truly global Brain Health Community, beginning right here in Scotland.

Welcome aboard, Clara!
