SBS celebrates International Women’s Day 2024 with a spotlight on our own amazing women – all throughout March!

SBS celebrates International Women’s Day 2024 with a spotlight on our own amazing women – all throughout March!

With roots dating back to 1909, International Women’s Day (observed on 8th March) is a global day celebrating the achievement of women and offering a platform to advocate for women’s equality. Each year, a theme encapsulates the focus, and that of 2024 is “Inspire Inclusion.” As explained by the movement’s website, this year’s theme hopes to “inspire others to understand and value women’s inclusion, [so that] we forge a better world. And when women themselves are inspired to be included, there’s a sense of belonging, relevance, and empowerment.”

Thanks to those female trailblazers who came before, women are now leading ground-breaking scientific research and advancements, facilitating world-changing discoveries, and inspiring millions of young girls and women around the world to pursue careers in science, medicine and technology.

As our main driving force at Scottish Brain Sciences is scientific innovation, we are huge advocates of advancing this subject of study for current and future generations of women…and we also happen to have some pretty remarkable women leading our team and our research!

So, we’ve decided to devote not just the 8th, but the entire month of March, to celebrating our fantastic females! And we’ve asked them each 3 questions:

  1. What does brain health research mean to you?
  2. What’s it like being a woman in the brain health research field?
  3. What advice do you have for women wanting to follow your footsteps in the science/brain health research field?

Head over to our YouTube channel to see the series as it goes live throughout the month of March!
