Giving hope in the search for early detection and treatments for Alzheimer’s disease.
At Scottish Brain Sciences, our clinical trials are central to what we do. Each study is designed to improve the early detection and treatment of brain conditions such as Alzheimer’s disease and other causes of memory and thinking problems.
Some trials test new medicines, while others explore promising tools like blood tests or digital assessments. Every study is carefully reviewed for safety and shares the same goal: supporting better brain health for all.

Explore our trials
We have a range of trials and studies for people at different stages of memory concerns, Alzheimer’s disease and dementia. We also have studies suitable for healthy volunteers and those with a family history of neurodegenerative disease. Each study has its own eligibility criteria. We are actively recruiting for the studies and trials on the ‘Studies and Trials Recruiting’ page.
Featured trial – ReTain
The ReTain study is evaluating an investigational medication to assess whether it is effective at slowing the onset of Alzheimer’s disease symptoms in those who are at risk of developing the disease.
- Who we’re looking for: People aged 55-75 with normal memory and thinking patterns who have a first degree family history (parent or sibling) of Alzheimer’s disease.
- Study design: Participants receive the investigational drug or a placebo by injection in the arm and have regular monitoring to assess brain and physical health.
- Location: Recruiting in Edinburgh
